![]() (like or 'disp(''you pushed the button'')' ) If you do, use a function name with an in front, or a char array that can be evaluated to valid code. You can set the Callback property of many objects.(You can also use getappdata and setappdata ) When you've finished loading all data (and saving it to fields of your handles struct), and creating all the buttons, save your handles struct to the guidata of your figure like this guidata(handles.f,handles).Save the handles to each element to fields of a struct (like handles.mybutton=uicontrol(_) ) Create buttons and axes and everything you need with functions like uicontrol and axes.Make a figure (with f=figure ) and look into the doc for figure which properties you want to turn off (you probably want to set Menu and Toolbar to 'none' ).It’s a great value for someone who needs a decent smartphone at a decent price, and isn’t wedded to selfies and Skype. In fact, that describes the Lumia 635 to a T: amazingly functional. The maps, camera app, driving instructions, City Lens (you point the camera at a landmark and the app tells you about it, and about what’s nearby), transit (yes, Canadian transit systems are included), and others are well thought out, and amazingly functional. Windows Phones from Nokia have another advantage: the bundled Nokia apps. Rogers, for example, sells green, yellow, and orange backs, plus clear and purple gel skins. You can swap the basic black back cover for one in various brighter hues. The weight is a relatively dainty 134 grams (to compare, the Samsung GS 5 weighs 145 grams), and the phone is quite comfortable in the hand. ![]() I found that with cellular and WiFi active and moderate amounts of activity it got me comfortably through a day, and then some. The 1830 mAh removable battery is rated for 14 hours talk time, 27 days standby, a rather useless measure in these days of more data than voice usage. There’s an API available so developers can incorporate the functions into their own apps. ![]() It logs ten days’ activity, stored on the phone, and you can pull it into compatible apps such as Bing Health and Fitness for reporting. With SensorCore, you can use the phone as a step counter, activity monitor, place monitor (for geofencing), and tracks monitor that provides points between general areas without using the GPS. The Lumia 635 has one cool feature that none of its predecessors boasted (though some newer models will inherit it when they upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 and the Lumia Cyan phone firmware update, if their hardware supports it): SensorCore technology, a low power way to use the device’s internal sensors to track activity without killing the battery. I’m not usually crazy about soft buttons, but their placement makes it harder to hit them by accident, a definite plus. Nokia also replaced the hardware Back, Start and Search buttons with soft buttons on the screen. The button launches the camera app, as well as acting as a shutter button I missed it when I was trying to grab a quick shot and had to launch the app manually. I did find the lack of the dedicated camera button found on most other Windows Phones a nuisance. While the camera did alright in not-too-bright room lighting, the lack of flash may be a showstopper for some. There’s no front-facing camera, just the aforementioned 5 MP rear-facing camera, which records video at 720p. One thing you can’t do is Skype or take selfies. In practice, the RAM shortage didn’t impact the apps I use, but you won’t be installing and playing any heavy-duty games. Memory is a bit sparse, at 512 MB, with 8 GB storage, but you can add up to a 128 GB microSD card, and Windows Phone 8.1 lets you store apps on the card rather than in the device’s internal storage. They’re not up to par with those from higher-end models with better optics, obviously, but they’re good enough for most purposes. Even photos taken with the 5 MP camera show up well. The Windows Phone OS does a good job managing the screen real estate, and I had no trouble reading the screen or navigating apps.
